I was having a conversation with some board members the other day about our recent field trips. Because of COVID protocols and concerns, we haven’t had a “traditional” field trip since the fall of 2019. The board members- many of whom are also parents- commented on how amazing our alternate trips were last spring and this fall. In both cases, it was the faculty’s creativity, passion for the students, and willingness to go the extra mile that enabled us to come up with plans that met our mission, built relationships, and strengthened our community. I can’t imagine another team pulling off those “trips.”
We often use the word “Riversidy” to describe an act of kindness by a student, a particularly creative or engaging activity on campus, or the freedom our students have to be themselves in our supportive little community.
